Thank you Christina Chaffin http://www.articlesbase.com/music-articles/radio-dj-with-dreams-kenjo-lachapelle-2836685.htmlRadio DJ with dreams: Kenjo LaChapelleDAYTON, Ohio – Inspiration comes in many forms. For Kenjo LaChapelle, inspiration is found in entertainment. LaChapelle hosts his own radio show, the "Kenjo Show" on BrandKnew Radio. He's also a hip-hop artist, constantly working on his craft. LaChapelle's goal is to give listeners the perfect groove-music Monday-Friday, 6-9 p.m. PST / 9 p.m.-12 a.m. EST. "I want listeners to know I'm here for them," he said, "I love to receive feedback, shout outs, and just [let others know that I know] they're out there." LaChapelle's passion for entertainment began at an early age during his elementary school years, when he was placed in the program G.A.T.E., (Gifted and Talented Education.) Acting became his passion. He said he loved exciting people and making them smile. "[While in school] I was always doing something to gain attention," he said. As time passed, his desire to act grew, but slowed down after reaching high school. It was there he discovered a new ambition: music. Music became LaChapelle's craving, giving him a hobby to look forward to. He said music became his pastime, but didn't take it serious until experiencing personal suffering. That's when creating meaningful lyrics became important. LaChapelle said he wanted listeners to find their own meanings in his words. "I pride myself in telling an intelligent story – both life-based and relatable," he said. Besides making music, he listens to a variety of artists, who he said influenced him musically. Tribe Called Quest, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and Tupac are four of many artists he appreciates. These artists and more have challenged his drive to make top-notch music. Still, they don't define his sound. When creating music, he said his goal is to sound original. LaChapelle strives to give fans unique lyrics with a fresh sound. New artists like Khalifa, J. Coles and Nipsey Hussel are another source of inspiration for LaChapelle. These artists motivate him because according to him, they are "hungry and making it." Today LaChapelle is determined to inspire others with a variety of music by hosting his own radio show. Though the "Kenjo Show" is in the "developmental stage," said LaChapelle, it's a show he's very passionate about, and said he is thankful others enjoy it. "Tell me what songs you love [and] hate," he said. "Tell me what songs to add to and delete from the rotation. It's not just about ‘Kenjo' on my show. It's about [everyone.]" Though he's busy with the "Kenjo Show," he loves his work. Music is LaChapelle's inspiration and said he is determined to grow throughout the creative process. He's gearing up to release his new mixtape "On Air" and is currently working on his sophomore album, soon-to-be titled. His previous album "Notepad" is available on iTunes. His lyrics are genuine and his message is real. "Never give up and believe in yourself." LaChapelle has been taking his advice since he discovered his love for entertainment. Today, he is working toward making his own dreams come true, saying, "Help me grow and I promise I will never let you down."
